Wide scope of application of new methods
The method has become firmly established in all areas of technology in recent years. It is used to produce various materials with unique functional characteristics. Today, they are used to manufacture structural elements of machines and mechanisms, metal-cutting and rock-crushing tools, bearings and other components of friction units, parts of electrical equipment and equipment of nuclear reactors, magnets, evaporative type coolers, and many other indispensable industrial products. Recently, the method of applying protective coatings to metal surfaces by spraying and surfacing has also become widespread.
Thanks to them, in the field of PM, the creation of powder products of exceptional functional qualities is conditioned, with the most favorable economic characteristics that contribute to resource conservation and energy conservation. In recent years, PM has been developing especially rapidly in terms of the development of both innovative technologies (for example, 3D printing) and the latest powder materials.
Other significant advantages of manufacturing products using the powder metallurgy method include:
- successful resolution of a number of serious problems that arise when using refractory metal powders with a melting point of 1500 ° C and above for industrial purposes, including porous and filter materials, combined products from components with different melting points (bronze and tungsten, iron and graphite, etc.);
- the ability to manufacture products from powder ingredients of high purity, since, unlike, for example, foundry production, in this case, any contamination of the processed material with foreign impurities is practically excluded;
- the ability to produce details of complex geometric shapes;
- there is no need to use highly paid qualified personnel due to the simplicity of the PM technology;
- the ability to automate at various stages of the technological process without developing complex orientation and transportation units, bunkers and other technical devices that are in demand for the piece production of products.
New powders were also made: Si, Fe, Al, Sn, Nb, Ni-Al, Inconel 625, Inconel 718.
Our technology for reducing the granulometric composition of materials allows us to produce powders with different fractional compositions without changing the chemical composition of the initial product.
It is possible to produce a number of products whose potential can be unlocked only with nanoparticles. The technology allows to achieve particle size up to 11 nm on different materials.
